In order to contribute to a
greater change in the Romanian civil society, currently a post-communist
environment heading towards democracy, Heifer Romania focuses on the following
issues:
1. Training and
Education Training and education are important issues when it comes to
using the existing resources wisely and transferring know-how among/within
groups and generations. Strengthening and focusing on this field will
result in further community development and achievement of Heifer
Romania objectives.
2. Collaboration and Partnerships More
resources solve more problems and provide complex approaches to projects.
At the same time, underestimation of collaboration and partnerships limits
resources and possibilities of solving problems. Heifer
Romania addresses
this issue by establishing various partnerships with national and
international organizations as well as extension services, contributing to
the consistency of our projects.
3. Expanding the
program Post-communist Romania,
Moldova and
Bulgaria are all
facing poverty, concentrated in rural areas. Efforts to alleviate poverty
are highly enhanced by the use of the Heifer way of assisting poor
communities. The program expansion will strengthen Heifer’s impact in the
area, by providing assistance to more and more people in need, regardless
of nationality.
4. Capacity building/Staff
Qualified and devoted staff is an essential factor for the fulfillment
of Heifer’s mission and efficiency of the country program.
5. Projects diversity Diversified projects
are important in meeting diverse needs and problems. A multilateral
approach is fundamental for the best usage of local
resources
6. Disadvantaged groups (Youth at risk, elderly,
Roma people) A large number of disadvantaged categories of people have
none or very little resources available, which makes it extremely
difficult for them to improve their own lives. Including them among Heifer
project beneficiaries will increase social comfort for all categories,
decreasing regional and national social problems.
